Thursday 2nd July 2026
Lytham Town Council has entered Lytham into the Town of Culture 2028 competition.
More on the competition, which is being held by the UK Government's Department of Culture, Media and Sport can be found on via this link
Whilst the results of the first round of the competition is not expected until the end of July, today, an interactive map has been launched which shows each applicant location by means of the 'Digital Postcard'. These postcodes were requested to be created by all applicants to showcase the level of competition across the country.
Lytham's postcard (front and back) may be found on the attached document.
Councillor Kelly Farrington, the lead Councillor for the Expression of Interest on behalf of Lytham Town Council says:
"We are all proud of our initial Expression of Interest and we value being part of the competition to become the UK's Town of Culture for 2028.
Our postcard reflects both our town and also the inter-generational nature of our communities.
It also shows the spirit of the approach with our application and proposed programme of events."
The interactive digital map showing the digital postcards of all applicants can be found here
