Lytham Town Council - Working for you - Influencing Fylde Council's Licensing Policy

Sometimes the question is asked "What has the Town Council done for me?"
In response to a query of this nature, please find a great example of Lytham Town Council working for our residents and our communities.
After the previous public consultation regarding a Cumulative Impact Policy in 2024, the Town Council during it’s first year of establishment, listened to the public and at our Full Council Meeting on the 28th July 2025 voted to ask Fylde Council to review it’s previous decision.
Cllr Cath Powell attended Fylde’s Licensing Committee on Thursday 9th October last year to present the Town Council’s case.
The Committee members listened and voted unanimously to conduct a review.
This decision led to colleagues at Fylde Council repeating their community survey over the autumn of 2025 and into the new year of 2026.
The Licensing Committee re-met on the 12th March this year and reconsidered the results from 443 survey responses - and at that time they recognised the genuine concerns from residents about the night time economy in Lytham.
The decision taken by Fylde Council on Tuesday 22nd September 2026 to update their Statement of Licensing Policy is welcomed by the Town Council.
This change in approach and strengthening of the Policy would not have happened if Lytham Town Council had not sought the review of Fylde's previous decision
It demonstrates that whilst newly established, Lytham Town Council will aim to represent the views of residents and businesses and ensure that their voices and views are heard by the decision making councils at Borough and County levels.
